TESTIMONIALS

“So many overwhelming emotions as we head home from Sun Escape Weekend. Its been no secret that life has had its challenges since our son started having severe sun reactions 5 years ago. We have done our best to piece things together but uncertainly and feelings of isolation still pop up.

This weekend exceeded all expectations with over 100 campers and volunteers who are connected to the sun sensitivity community. The amount of detail to ensure the kiddos had an encouraging, fun and safe time was unbelievable. The opportunity to connect with so many beautiful souls was beyond special. Our hearts are so full and we have left feeling empowered to face the difficult summer months. Huge thank you to Shadow Jumpers, The United Porphyrias Association and Victory Junction.”

“From the first night to saying goodbye, my emotions were high. The feeling of being surrounded by people who just get it was surreal. Medicine or not, we still deal with these diseases daily and to have a weekend where we could just be with others who understand that was beyond a blessing!

Thanks so much to Shadow Jumpers and the United Porphyrias Association for this opportunity. I would also like to say thank you to all the other angels who helped make this weekend happen! We know it wouldn’t have been possible without you all!”

“Shadow Jumpers and the United Porphyrias Association have outdone themselves by bringing together so many people who are connected by one thing, and that just makes them awesome! “

“To know we aren't alone. To know that there is hope. To meet the people working so hard to bring that hope for the future. To have new friends to talk to, ask questions of and know other moms going through the same things. Listening to people's stories which were so similar to ours.

Thank you Shadow Jumpers and the United Porphyrias Association for putting together the weekend of a lifetime. Having a rare disease can be incredible lonely, especially as a child. I knew this weekend would change these children’s lives but I wasn’t expecting it to change mine as well. “

“Shadow Jumpers, the United Porphyrias Association and Victory Junction created a weekend for us porphyria kids and families to connect, meet other people with the same disorder (my first time meeting anyone besides my brother!), feel supported and have fun with NO SUN!

I had a blast being a family pal and spending all weekend making sure my fellow EPPers had the best time at their sun free camp. It is something I wish I had a kid so I am so hopeful for the next generation growing up with these disorders. Hope to see you in 2025 and many more years after that to Sun Escape!”

“The connections and sense of familiarity to everyone we met this weekend was beyond what I ever expected in such a short time
