Our Mission
Sun Escape offers children with photosensitive conditions, and their families, the opportunity to embrace their uniqueness, create new connections and grow their self-confidence through sun precaution camp programs.
Our Vision
A mentally and financially stress-free weekend that removes the burden of these rare medical conditions for a short period of time so kids can be kids.
These values are part of every decision we make at Sun Escape.
We are deeply committed to providing the maximum experience possible for all our campers, regardless of how difficult or even impossible the challenge may initially feel. Our goal is to ensure that each camper is supported and encouraged throughout their journey, so they can fully embrace each opportunity for growth and adventure.
On average, the photosensitive conditions affecting our campers are incredibly rare, occurring in about 1 in a million individuals. Therefore, we take this weekend to celebrate this unique opportunity to come together in the same place and forge lifelong connections with one another.
We try to consider every “what if” scenario with our program facilities and plan for the most severe of outcomes. We also inform parents prior to the start of camp of the proposed schedule, any vulnerable areas, details on the precautions we are taking, indoor lighting data and a reminder to pack protective clothing. We are committed to adding and adjusting our protections to meet all of our families expectations.
Camp weekend should genuinely feel like a truly worthy vacation for both your families and the dedicated volunteers. This experience should be enriching, providing everyone with memorable moments that foster connection and camaraderie.
Things don't always go as planned, and that's fine. Whether at camp or traveling to and from Victory Junction, if unexpected issues arise, don't worry. Sun Escape will always work hard to make sure the weekend is still fun!
We want as many campers and volunteers to feel personally invested in the weekend experience. We will take and try to incorporate every suggestion and idea we receive from our community.
