  • We know families come in all shapes and sizes. Sun Escape will allow for families to consist of 8 members and the primary camper(s) need to have a photo sensitive diagnosis. We strongly recommend sticking with immediate family but understand kids may love a weekend with their favorite cousin or aunt.

While a family weekend, kids are the priority. Its strongly encourage our party consist of more kids than caregivers.

  • If you are one of our 32 families accepted after our initial application process, Sun Escape will send you via email Victory Junctions online portal. Here you will have to submit each member of your party's information and include necessary medical and immunization records. These are similar medical records to what a school may ask for.

  • All of Sun Escape's activities are indoors or set for a late evening / night time start.

While Sun Escape is taking every precaution to remove sun exposure from the weekend’s activities, there will be moments where your family will have to walk a few minutes between buildings (partially covered) or a five-minute walk from your cabin to the main camp area; once one way in the morning and potentially once in the afternoon round trip (not covered).

To help combat this minimal exposure, each photosensitive child will be given a high-end UV umbrella at the start of camp and, for our more photosensitive campers, a small bus will be available on site.

Sun Escape has also noted all the indoor lighting used in each facility and its strength. In most cases, indoor lights can be turned off on request.

We want this experience to be as comfortable as possible. If you feel you will need additional protections please notify a team member as far in advance before attending sun escape.

  • Families are expected to arrive to camp around 5pm that Thursday and will expect to leave around noon that Sunday. Each families' travel plans will differ depending on where they are arriving from and how they choose to travel. For some of our families that are flying, it will make more sense to arrive Wednesday night in Greensboro. In those cases, we ask our families to book their Wednesday travel with the understanding that Sun Escape will provide them with a hotel room for that Wednesday night in Greensboro North Carolina. We want to book that room for you (as opposed to reimbursement) because we want to group all of our Wednesday night families together at the same hotel

  • All reasonable airfare and travel is 100% reimbursable. After families have filled out their Victory Junction forms and have been approved by Victory Junction, families will be asked to book their airfare. We recommend flying in and out of the Greensboro Airport. Families will be able to submit their airfare (and other acceptable expenses) after camp for reimbursement. Families that book their airfare BEFORE February 1st are eligible to receive their airfare reimbursement early. There is no cap on economy airfare but we ask families help out the process by booking as far in advance as possible noting the rising cost of booking airfare closer to the event date.

CLICK HERE to review our family travel guidelines for more details.

  • Families that arrive to Greensboro North Carolina before Thursday at 4:00pm will have a shuttle bus provided to take them to Victory Junction. The bus will leave the GREENSBORO AIRPORT MARRIOTT HOTEL. There is a 24/7 shuttle that can take you from the airport to the hotel pick up spot (about a 5 minute ride).

If you arrive to Greensboro after 4pm, families will have to ride share to Victory Junction and this is included in your approved reimbursement. Families that arrive to Sun Escape via a different airport (Charlotte or Raleigh) may choose to rent a car. Please contact a Sun Escape team member before booking. People routinely ride share to Greensboro from Raleigh and Charlotte.

Families flying out of Greensboro on Sunday after camp has concluded will have a bus to take them from camp to the airport. The bus will leave at the conclusion at camp. It will be one way and only stop at the Greensboro airport.

  •  In the unlikely event there are no acceptable flights home Sunday, Sun Escape agrees to work with our families on finding a solution for a flight out Monday morning. All Sun Escape families and volunteers will be required to leave the Victory Junction property on Sunday so we will work with you to find a hotel for Sunday night. We do want to note that things such as having a lay over or arriving home later in the night won’t be initially categorized as "unacceptable flights home.” However we want to work with you and we want this process to be personal and positive.

We believe in the reimbursement process because we want to put the travel process as much in your control as possible. Over communicate with us as you start to put together those travel plans.

  • Sun Escape promises to cover your travel home, whenever that may be.

However, any additional expense that are non camp travel related will not qualify for reimbursement.
